July 21, 2009 (from Kay)

Praise God! The feeding tube repositioning went smoothly - no trauma at all! David & Jimmy got here in time for David to be in there with her. Kaylee & I had a great night last night, so she was rested and ready to handle it well. Thank you for prayers! That makes the difference.

Right now, Kaylee & Jimmy are playing cards. This is the first time since Jimmy & I have been here that we have seen her feeling like doing anything more than watch TV - if that. It's good to hear her giggling and enjoying herself!

They will now start to increase the tube feed flow, trying to get it to the level that she will no longer require IV nutrition and can go home. (Maybe as soon as tomorrow.) It seems that the catch is to keep her from throwing up so much, which is a likely culprit in causing the tube to work back up. Please pray that the natural secretions (thank you, liver & gall bladder!) into her stomach will move on through the narrowed opening instead of building up and coming up! Maybe her increased activity will help that. Once she gains some weight, the pressure should come off the duodenum and this issue will go away.

Baby steps, but we're on the way to recovery!
Kay
